Four months ago I decided to do something absolutely crazy. I made a decision that would change my life. A decided to completely stop everything I was doing, and move half way across the country, to Texas, to attend a college closer to my boyfriend. After long hours of trying to convince my parents, they finally said gave me the answer I wanted to hear, they said yes. Now the planning part, how would my car and I get all the way out to Texas? The car situation was a toss up, but eventually my parents came up with a conclusion. We would sell my car, a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta, and buy a car out in Texas. Perfect! Now my dad and I would have to fly out to Texas, rather than drive, let’s just say I was thrilled with that plan. So September rolls around, faster then I ever expected, and its time to start packing my bags for the plane, and take my belongings to the UPS store to have them shipped to my future residence. September 6th, 2008, my dad and I take off from Norfolk, and for me, it would be the last time I would be home for the next 3 and a half months.
Once we arrived in Texas, everything went just as planned. We picked up my brand new beautiful, 2009 Kia Spectra picking up of the car, moving into my dorm, and getting all my belongings from the UPS store. But after a semester of college out there, I realized it wasn’t for me and made the decision to come home for the next semester. Because of the decision I made, I recently got to experience the trip of a life time, filled with memories that will never be forgotten.
The memories started on Saturday January 10th bright and early when my best friend Amanda went to the airport to catch our plane for a one way flight to Texas to pick up my car. We spent the weekend in Austin, where I got to show her around the city I lived the past three months. I packed up the remaining of my belongings that were still in my dorm, and I said my goodbyes to my friends, as my last few hours in Austin, Texas were concluding.
Then it all started on Monday, January 12th at around 1:30pm, the trip that would leave me in the car for the next 3 days and 1600 miles. The car was packed, the music was set and we were ready to hit the road. Although it was hard to put live as I knew it for the past 3 and a half months behind me, what was before me was truly going to be something I would never forget!
Amanda and I had a blast during our road trip. We told stories, sang songs really loud, and took a ton of pictures. Our laughs were endless. Although the entire trip was so memorable, I did have a few favorite parts of the trip. One of my favorite parts was that we stopped and took pictures at ever state welcome sign that we passed. I also really enjoyed the whole experience of getting to drive through seven states, and see different parts of the country.
Another part of the trip I really enjoyed was the fact that we got to stop in Charlotte, North Carolina for the night at my Aunt and Uncles house. It was nice that my best friend got to meet them, and it was extremely pleasant that I got to spend time with them. Not excluding that fact that it benefited us finically. That was a special addition to my unforgettable road trip.
Over all, Amanda and I had an amazing time on our road trip. Thankfully my trip didn’t include traffic or speeding tickets, just lots of laughs and many memories. I can honestly say that that road trip that I just experienced, driving from Texas to Virginia Beach, was my favorite road trip experience, and something that I will remember forever.

My Experience in English 111

During my time in English 111 I learned a lot about the writer I am. The things I did throughout the course helped me as a writer in multiple ways. I learned different things I could do to benefit my final piece of work.
The prompt topics that were assigned to us, as well as the comments that were put on my essays were very helpful in making me a better writer. The prompts were helpful because they were personal, but also topics involving a lot of thoughts. When writing the essays that were assigned to us, I had to take the time to think as well as organize how I was going to write my essay. That helped me become a better writer because it taught me different and useful ways as far as which helped me organize my paper the best.
Another thing I really liked about English 111 was the argument essay. Usually assignments that require a large amount of words and research don’t excite me too much, nor do I tend to enjoy completing the assignment. Although the fact that we were able to pick our topic I actually enjoy writing this incredibly long essay. I was glad that we were able to choice a topic we were interested in. Of all the things done in English 111 I enjoyed and found the argument essay one of the most beneficial as well as useful for me in life. I became more comfortable with citations as well as more informed on a topic that interests me, and possibly my future career.
Thirdly, I will leave English 111 with more knowledge on the terms ethos, logos and pathos. I found myself somewhat knowledgeable about those words from the lesson at the begging of the semester but once we were assigned the essay in which we had to take a reflection on our personal life and use those words in content, it made me more aware of the terms.
A life lesson I learned was enrolling in this class with a good friend of mine. Had it not been for Amanda, I may not have attended as many classes. She also helped to remind me when things were due. She would send me friendly text messages saying “hey, did you email your paper?”
Overall I enjoyed English 111. I found my professor as well as my peers in the class very critic to my success. I hope my next English class will be just as enjoyable is this class was.
